Oscar Noms

I think Tinker Tailor Butt Asleep is too long for the Academy voters. Otherwise I would think the Academy, who can nominate up to 10 movies, might've included it in their Best Picture list. They only nominated 9 films, leaving a spot open. Problem, like I mentioned, is it's so dang long. Sure, the Academy members need a nap time but they miss the ending! And let's face it- if you're going to spend your whole day watching Gary "I have a weird attraction to him" Oldmam in a 70's spy drama, you need to see the end!

So we know we'll see Clooney and Pitt (and what's her face) at the awards. And yeah for movies about women crapping in the sink! Seriously, love that Bridesmaids has a best supporting and best writing nom. Now if only they would've nominated Jon Hamm so he was going to the awards also.

I liked Hugo, but if it wasn't directed by Scorsese, would it really have received 11 noms, the most of any film?

The GGs

Thought Ricky Gervais was funny, but he was barely on the stage. I guess they brought him back, and then told him not to speak. He introduced Madonna, and didn't mention her fake British accent. Seemed like he introduced more people last year. We saw him about every half hour or so this year.

The awards themselves weren't much of a surprise. Even Madonna winning best song wasn't surprising (except maybe to Elton John, who on the red carpet said there was no f-ing way she would win). She won a Golden Globe for acting (!) years ago, confirming that the GGs are more a fun party than predictor of the Oscars.

Morgan Freeman got the Cecil B DeMille award from Sidney Poitier and his recent co-star Helen Mirren. Why not Tim Robbins from The Shawshank Redemption? He was there anyways, having been nominated for something (can't remember what, just noticed him there). Liked that the producers not only including a video clip from The Electric Company in Freeman's montage, but kept it playing longer than most of the other clips. Maybe the video editor is against people allegedly dating their grand daughters.

So now we know that ratings/money is more powerful than Scientology as Ricky Gervais is brought back to host the Golden Globes again.

If you remember he made a Scientology joke last year (see the 3:24 mark). "Big scandal" ensued (not really) and the Golden Globes people pretended to be very upset. And then they invited him back.

This season, Top Chef Texas invited more chefs than there were spots on the show, and made them prove their worth. Group 1 had to cook for Tom, Padma and new judge Emeril. Group 2 cooked for Tom, Padma and Gail. If the judges didn't think you were worthy of one of the 16 chef jackets, you were either told to pack your knives or were told you were "on the bubble"- they would let you cook off with the rest of the 'on the bubbles' to see who made the cut.

If that weren't enough, before they even presented their food Tom went around the kitchen and told a few people to pack their knives. I know they're trying to turn up the heat for the show, but dang. If I was going to crush someone's reality show dreams I wouldn't want knives involved.

I knew I would be annoyed with Top Chef Texas by the commercials alone. Padma trying to be a sexy cowgirl.

And lookie who is in the video below- Peewee Herman (Alamo reference I'm hoping...remember, he went looking for his bike...) and is that Oscar winner Charlize Theron? It's very possible it's not, since all blondes look alike (aw snap) but it looks like her. Because when I think Texas, I think of South African born Charlize Theron. Tommy Lee Jones is more like it!

A mom group, that I won't mention so as not to give them more publicity (because so many people read this blog, ya know) is asking grocery stores to stop carrying Ben & Jerry's Schweddy Balls. Based on the hilarious skit from SNL that starred Alec Baldwin as Mr. Schweddy, it is more known for being the only memorable skit from SNL in the last 10 years than for it's frequent mention of the word balls.

I got on this mom site to see what else ticks them off- Chaz Bono on Dancing With the Stars. They were encouraging boycotts of Dancing With the Stars advertisers. I didn't search much on the site...just a minute was making me feel icky, but I didn't see any protest against violence.

Project Runway- Cluck Cluck

The designers had to create an outfit inspired by a bird. And they had to go head to head against another designer.

Winner...Anya. She lucked out getting a sold black bird.

Anya went against Laura. The judges applauded Laura for trying something different. Oh please.

Bert was against Josh, and lost (and was out of the show). I like the skirt.

Josh bored us with this, and the judges loved it. Their only critique was the corsage-looking flower. I have to know what blackmailing photos Josh has of the judges.

Kimberley scrapped her other outfit and came up with this one-shoulder dress that resembles her head-to-head competitor Viktor.

This might be the first outfit of Viktor's that I didn't think was great.

Project Runway- I Didn't Get to Watch Fashion Movies

I know- I am behind in my Project Runway posts. Fun fact for you- I just saw Bert at The Grove (shopping center). Nothing else to report, other than I saw him.

The designers had to create a look inspired by the 70's.

Of course, Anya won. Her jumpsuit will be sold online, or in a fashion mag, or something.

Anthony Ryan was sent home.

The Piperlime (wasn't she icy) rep liked Bert's dress, and that will also be sold online. Nips not included.

Josh was critiqued, rightfully so, for his outfits. He later complained to his fellow contestants that he was barely born in the 80's so how would he know how to make an outfit from the 70's. Viktor mentioned these things called movies...which Josh said "I had to hide who I was, I couldn't watch fashion movies." Anyone on Project Runway should at least know Halston.

Kimberly makes the most forgettable clothes.

While Laura makes clothes I wish I could forget. There's a job at Contempo Casuals waiting for her after the show.

J Lo's New Commercial- It's Stalkerific

What was the creative discussion behind J. Lo's new commercial?

Let's have J. Lo driving the Fiat as street thugs dressed in Gap clothes run after her, stalk her and jump on her car. And put a few of them on skateboards...and get Cool Rider from Grease 2 to make an appearance.

Fearing for her life, J. Lo will stop the car and the thugs will lift her out of the car's roof. They will set her on the hood while she's wearing heels. If you could dress her like a 90's secretary on her lunch break on a hot day, that would be great. When off the hood, J. Lo should engage in funky dancing with the thugs. She will perform so many hip movements they will be on the ground. It's like her hips killed them. Brilliant!

Amazing Race- Still in the Race by a Tweet

The Amazing Race starts tonight and I have a feeling this season will be just like last- I DVR'd it but didn't end up watching it.

I am watching the start of this episode and it does appear to have several professional sports people/reality stars. I guess the producers think this makes for more compelling TV- get people who are near foreclosure competing with teams that have millions.

One of the women lost her passport. While she was at the airport unsure of what to do, her name came over the intercom. Turns out two guys found it at a gas station. One of the guys tweeted about it and got a response (from a producer?) that they would be on their way to LAX. The guys drive to LAX and give her her passport. Let's be honest- he wouldn't have drove to LAX for just anyone (she's a former Vegas showgirl). Producer involvement this early in the game? I mean, who else would know she was on her way to LAX?

Project Runway- They're Testing Our Patience

This week it was teams and menswear. AHHHH! But it wasn't a true team challenge, and none of the contestants gave a crap what the others on their team was making. The designers had to create an outfit for a member of The Sheepdogs. Never heard of them? They are an unknown band that won a contest to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone.

I'm not diggin' Joshua's outfit, but of course the judges like it.

Anthony Ryan can whip up a good outfit, but most of the time they're like this. Was this the outfit Ms. Kors said was like the Golden Girls. Zah! Love a GG reference.

You wouldn't know that Anya wasn't from America with this pilgrim-inspired garb. Maybe they get Charlie Brown specials in the...Bahamas? Completely forgot where she is from. How this guy has a smile on his face while wearing this...he must be high.

This poor guy just can't get a good outfit. Kimberly dressed him up as a pumpkin Peter Pan even though the judges have stated their dislike for that color scheme.

My nemesis Nina Garcia liked the pigtails. Can't say I do. But I thought Bert made cool pants.

Although Nina Garcia (yes, I always say her first and last names) didn't like the jacket while the other judges did. I agree (!) with her, looks old lady. And I know the scarf was supposed to be Aerosmithy, but I think this is a miss for Laura.

Viktor made jeans and a jacket, and despite the daisy shirt, he is the clear winner.

Olivier proved himself to not be the idiot savant of designers that he might've be perceived at the beginning. But he's young and could get better. But for now, he made this.

Project Runway- They're Running Out of Celebrity Judges

I am a week behind, so there will be two PR posts in a row.

The contestants weren't in teams (!) but they had to listen to men describe their wife/gf's style and make an outfit. Talking about breasts flustered poor Olivier.

Malin Akerman is a guest judge. Wow. The producers really did tick off Hollywood by switching to Lifetime.

Joshua's win is starting to prove my theory that he is related to a producer, or has some dirt on Michael Kors. This is a snoozer!

Viktor was denied! This is adorable.

The judges liked Anya's dress.

Bryce made the bottom of the dress like a garden tote. The model said she could put her keys and phone in there. I don't know if she was just being nice, or if she really wanted to do that. One trip to the bathroom and you would see why that wouldn't be a good idea. Bryce was sent home.

The judges called Anthony Ryan's dress cheerleader, superhero, and various other not good comparisons. And what was he thinking with the white belt.

Bert designed what the client wanted, but the judges weren't impressed.

Again, Kimberly brings the not bad, not great outfit.

Laura is just average.

Olivier is testing our patience. We thought he was cute and arty, now we're not sure.

Project Runway- Another Team Challenge

Team challenges mean cat fights, bickering, bitching and more bitching. This week- one team works well together nearly giggling as they stitch, while the other team narrowly avoids death by sewing needles.

Let's begin, shall we?

The old make your own fabric challenge. These are creative people, surely they will come up with some beautiful textiles since they can do anything they want. Right? Well, just wait and see.

Team Chaos
Anthony Ryan, Anya, Viktor, Olivier and Bryce are all on one team. Before the outfits walk down the runway you know who is going to win just by the designers.

The judges were in love with Olivier's jacket...

...so of course...Anya wins. Huh? They barely talked about her outfit.

Anthony Ryan made a fabulous outfit. Love!

Viktor's dress was a hit with the judges, although you wouldn't know it by the model's expression.

Color Bryce lucky that he ended up on this team.

Team Nuts and Bolts

Now, this was your typical school yard way of choosing teams, so how did Joshua, Laura, Becky and Bert all get on the same team? If I thought the producers were manipulative I would say this was on purpose.

They brainstormed for themes and came up with, not joking, the Village People, (suggested by Joshua) sea anemones (Laura) clocks (not sure). So they went with clocks and named their team Nuts and Bolts, appropriately enough. I am not joking when I say that Joshua last week reminded me of Can't Stop the Music, which stars who else? The Village People.

Joshua was bringing the bitchy. He was fighting with Tim over "where is your girl going?" This is a common question asked of the designers. Something along the lines "someone would by this for what occasion"? Joshua didn't like the question, and said she could just be living her life...she could be going anywhere since it's a jacket. I guess he didn't feel comfortable saying she was going to a reunion of 80's video models. This is around the time Tim had them all hold hands for a prayer circle. Really.

Joshua came up with this design, and the fabric. I love when Michael Kors said "not a lot of women want to have cancelled on their crotch." The shoes are bad, too.

Laura said she is the love child if Betsy Johnson and Oscar De La Renta had a baby. Uh, yeah. Keep telling that to yourself toots.

Oh Becky, I like your feisty, spitfire-y sass, but you have work still to do with design. We knew she would be sent home as soon as she said "I'm confident the jacket will carry me through." The editors always do that!

Bert brings his usual not amazing, but not the worst dress.

Project Runway- Avant Gawdy

It seems like every season there is an avant garde challenge, and every time there are designers that don't know the meaning. If you're going to be on Survivor learn how to start a fire before you start the show, if you're going to be on Amazing Race train in rappelling, and for the love of Pete if you're going to be on Project Runway learn avant garde!!! I say this frequently, yet these reality contestants aren't listening! (what? they don't read the blog?)

I never thought I would say this but where was Nina Garcia when we needed her? Her and I don't agree often but I think when she's gone Michael Kors goes soft.

Anthony Ryan was the winner. Walking down the runway it looked blah. Guest judge Kenneth Cole was very politely trying to say- yeah, no.

The judges liked Laura's dress. I thought it looked like something Carrie wore right before pig's blood was dropped on her head. Not avant garde.

Also in the top three, Joshua (the really bitchy one). Anyone else notice that the color palette is the same that the judges hated previously (orange with brown)? And he added a witches hat? Looks like Halloween. No way Nina Garcia would've let that go unnoticed!

Joshua (the one that was brought back) gave us avant garde for hookers. And he was sent home. Did you notice the top part of his outfit resembled what the other Joshua wore (what was that?!) on the day of the runway?

Heidi liked Bert's outfit, so that helped him out of the bottom. But let's be honest, we can see Lady Gaga wearing this.

Oliver made this, which I think has to be one of the ugliest globs of fabric to ever walk the runway, which is saying a lot since there has been some ugly stuff on the runway (see the two photos above). The judges kept pointing out how well one side was constructed. Really? It looks like the vests we were wearing in the 90's. And why make her hair a mess also? Oliver has not recovered since falling on the track, me thinks.

I thought Anya would be in the top 3. She wasn't.

Becky didn't like being called dowdy so she showed them! She made this pin cushion dress.

Bryce...wonder what inspired him to make a straight jacket outfit.

Kimberly doesn't bore, doesn't wow.

I thought this was tacky, like something Destiny's Child would wear, but Viktor made it through to the next round. These are the colors and textures of pantyliners. He was lucky there was already an overflowing (no pun intended) bottom 3.

Hurricane Katrina

Six years ago today the levees breached, flooding 80% of New Orleans, and affecting nearby states. 1,836 people died.

Hurricane Katrina is virtually no where in the news. I know we just had Hurricane Irene, but it wasn't soon after Hurricane Katrina that the news stopped covering the situation. For some reason, New Orleans is pretty much ignored. I'm not the only one that thinks that, right?

Besides, even though we just had Hurricane Irene, the news could still report on Hurricane Katrina whether at the anniversary or the progress of the city throughout the year.

Someone who is not ignoring New Orleans is Brad Pitt. His organization Make it Right, is building green homes for the lower 9th ward residents. All homes are built above the Katrina water level, and have roof access. Check out some of the homes here.

Project Runway- Camel Butt

This week- more teams! Also- design for Heidi's fashion line, an outfit that matches her New Balance shoes! Cecelia just didn't give a crap anymore and quit the show and Joshua was brought back!

So let's get to it:

The contestants had to run around a track to choose teams. Now, there's a reason men and women don't compete against each other in racing competitions, so...not surprisingly all the men finished before the women. Well, except for Bert and Olivier who made a sad fall onto the ground and then had a panic attack. Poor Ollie. Bottom line- not a fair competition, Lifetime, the network for Women...allegedly!

The project leaders were the top 3 runners which were Josh, Anthony Ryan and Bryce.

Anthony Ryan picked his buddy Laura to be on his team, and then had final pick which meant he was stuck with Bert.

Anthony made this outfit. I guffawed when Ms. Kors said "you did the impossible, you managed to make it baggy and tight at the same time...look at that camel toe" and when the model turned around and all the judges gasped at the shorts up her backside, Bert said "and camel butt." Heidi let it be known that if it was up to her Anthony Ryan would be sent home.

Anthony Ryan said Bert's outfit looked like she was a cocktail waitress. So either Nina or Michael said to Anthony Ryan, "well where is your model going in that outfit?" and he said "nowhere." More guffaws.

Laura's was no good, and when will these vesty things stop?

I guess not until after Joshua takes one through a shredder.I mean this vest thing is atrocious yet Michael and Nina Garcia liked it, with Nina almost squealing about liking Josh's outfit. I just can't figure that woman out sometimes. The short? ick. And THE HAIR. The judges didn't even mention it. Is Josh related to the producers?

Even though Joshua won, Anya's dress is going to be replicated and sold online. I guess Joshua won for being the team leader.

The actual dress on Amazon is sans that stripe. And sells for $118.

Josh, he with more bark than talented bite, made Becky cry by calling her clothes dowdy. And he is so hookery.
The judges were not so nice about Becky's outfit. Although, this model should keep this top if she's looking to find a boyfriend. Hellllooooo.

The judges seemed to like Bryce's dress, although I thought it looked like a cinched pillowcase.

Danielle makes very unflattering clothes for women. And she was sent packing.

This is Kimberly's outfit...sort of. Danielle made the jacket.

Joshua (the returning one) made this- it looks like she has a backpack but really it's a fake gun holster. So the person who attempts to rob her for her backpack will be excited that there isn't a gun to retaliate.

Even though Heidi told Olivier that it looked like Farm Girl when she saw the skirt earlier, he stuck with it. Cropping the top right at the hip did not help.

Team leader Viktor also won. His jacket will also be sold online.

The Labrador retriever was such an important part of Tumilson's life that the friends and family of the San Diego resident called the dog his "son."

When Tumilson's friend Scott Nichols walked to the front of the room to speak, Hawkeye followed, Today.com reports. "As Nichols prepared to memorialize his friend, Hawkeye dutifully laid down near the casket," Scott Stump writes.

Nick Ashford from the married, songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson, passed away. A&S wrote Ain't No Mountain High Enough, Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand, and I'm Every Woman among other songs. Unless you're a young one, you might remember they wrote and performed Solid (as a Rock):

Nothing says you are solid as a rock like singing to each other in a tunnel. What was it with 80's videos and gang members?

I didn't realize that they started the Solid as Barack version and that SNL was parodying them. I thought SNL came up with it. Still, you know Ashford & Simpson were happy a black presidential nominee rhymed with one of their most famous songs. You know Soft Cell is hoping someone running in 2012 rhymes with "Tainted".

Netflix use to send me an email when they got my movie, when they shipped out my new movie, when they wanted to know what I thought of a movie, when they wanted to know the picture quality of a movie...we were like besties.

We're 8 days away from when new charges will take effect for Netflix and have I received one reminder email? Of course not.

So before September 1 (or it might be whenever your billing date is in September) log in to your Netflix account and chose the plan you want. The default option you will notice is the higher price.

There's Just Not Enough Dolphin Movies

For every movie with J. Low or Julia Roberts, there should be a dolphin movie.

Dolphin's Tale looks like your typical kid movie, with (I'm guessing) the single parent, the do-gooder, the kids that rely on said do-gooder ("you can't give up!" the kids will say with wide-eyes), the evil person/corporation, etc. But since this movie has dolphins, that should make it tolerable. Unless, anything happens to the dolphins that would make the audience cry. Which, knowing kid movies, is probably going to happen.

Project Runway: Nina Garcia Doesn't Like Anything

Anyways, it was Nina Garcia's turn to boss the contestants around. She had no problem telling them everything she hated. All while wearing this blouse:

The designers were to make an outfit for Nina Garcia that she could wear to work, and also to an after-work function.

You Look Like a Monkey and Act Like One Too...

Bridget Jones' Diary 3

Many sources are reporting that Renee Zellwegger will gain weight to play Bridget Jones for a third time.

I loved the first movie, but the second movie was just ok. It was entertaining enough to see at the theater and it's not bad like Sex and the City 2. But all three of the main characters just seemed off in the movie- Bridget and her penguin waddle, Mark Darcy looked in pain, Daniel Cleaver too mean.

Hope the producers can figure out how to bring back the charm of the first movie.

Project Runway- Outdoors, Teams and Stilts

Whenever the contestants are put into teams, you get a sense of dread- from the contestants and from the viewers. The debating over who made what, who had this idea, and who worked harder...

While pairing usually brings out weird ideas and a horrible final product, it does bring out the catty side of some, which I guess is why they are paired up in the first place.

Add to the fact that this is the first runway show outside (not sure why that was such a big deal) and that the models are on stilts, this was an episode where the producers were trying to really amp it up.

Laura and Anthony Ryan worked well together and won. I couldn't walk in this dress with flats, so big kudos to the stilt lady. And yes, you have to call him Anthony Ryan.

Design darlings Anya and Olivier had scores high enough that they didn't have to sit through Michael Kors insults or compliments. I thought this would get called out for its simplicity.

Becky and Kimberly were in the top 3. Tailoring pants that long is impressive.

Bert and Viktor didn't get along and took it out on this outfit. Why does Mood even sell fabric like this?

Bryce and Fallene couldn't get it together. And I really don't think if she had finished her top it would've looked any better. Bryce mentioned many times that Fallene wasn't cutting the fabric on grain. I am surprised she didn't know that, but I didn't want to hear Bryce repeat it over and over.

The judges liked this outfit by Danielle and Cecilia, and I just don't get it. While the judges did admit the hair was no good (Michael Kors: "Craaaaazy hair"), I would have put this in the bottom 3 for the bad tribute to Little House on the Prairie.

Aside from the La Isla Bonita music video, I am not sure when the matador look really is something on trend or couture. Joshua is bitchy, so at times funny, yet would make one cry. When Julie asked about a certain fabric "can this be pleated?", Josh replied "anything in the world can be pleated".

Someone in Lifetime's website's comments section pointed out the winning look is similar to this Gucci dress worn by J. Low.

Jani Lane Dies

Jani Lane (second from left, the one with the piercing stare), former singer of hair band Warrant, died at age 47.

Warrant had a hit with the ever so tactful "Cherry Pie", a song that highlights all that was fun, excessive and obnoxious of 80's rock. They also had songs "Heaven" "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and "I Saw Red".

Jani was on Celebrity Fit club a few years ago. Celebrity Rehab also had a few patients pass away recently. Maybe someone should look at these people as really needing help. I mean, that is the point of those shows, right?

Project Runway- No More Tissue Dresses

The designers had to make it work with materials from a pet store. No cat litter dresses, but a few hamster cage filler.

I thought Anthony Ryan's bird seed dress was the best.

But the winner was Olivier's you'll-need-Claritin-to-wear-this dress. The top, even though made from a dog bed, still is a material and the judges don't usually like that (in contrast- someone made a top with aquarium crystals).

Joshua was out with this design. For obvious reasons.

And the judges expressed their displeasure for another tissue dress or skirt.

The crafty-type designers don't usually make it too far, with the exception of Sweet P.

Anya's dress is made from dog rope toys. The model should stay clear of dogs, they can spot those toys a mile away. You're imagining dogs fighting over her top while she's still wearing it, aren't you? (I am)

Bert- the older, gay, recovering alcoholic that we know has a meltdown in him just waiting to come out- had a pass this week so he phoned it in. Not sure how the person who won last week can then make this hot mess, but whatevs.

Not amazing, but at least Cecilia didn't overdo the styling

That hair! The shoes! I don't even like the shirt length or circular pattern of both the shirt and skirt. But, the judges mostly liked it.

Harry Potter Breaks Records

The foreboding billboards "It All Ends 7.15" might've been better predicting Jennifer Lopez's marriage than the end of the Harry Potter franchise.

With the franchise now at $2 billion, it seems likely they'll find some way to make another movie.

The Emmy nominations are out and "Mad Men" is leading the series pack with 19 bids, including best drama.

The sharply observed view of 1960s America received 19 Emmy nominations Thursday and has a chance to repeat for a fourth time as TV's best drama. Stars Jon Hamm and Elisabeth Moss are up for lead acting honors.

The top nominee overall is the miniseries "Mildred Pierce," which also earned a bid for star Kate Winslet. Other leading nominees include the Prohibition-era drama "Boardwalk Empire," sitcom "Modern Family," ''Saturday Night Live" and fantasy saga "Game of Thrones."

The Emmy ceremony is scheduled to air on Fox on Sept. 18.

I know it is very unoriginal to critique Jen A, but this dress for her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony? Yes, I read that it's Prada. Still.

And I know it is very unoriginal to say something positive about Kate's fashion, but she does have good dress sense.

And I like Hermione's Harry Potter premiere dress, but somehow I think Michael Kors would make a kleenex comment.

The second most common question people ask me about Rick Springfield, besides "does he have any songs other than Jessie's Girl?" (yes, something like 16 Top 40 songs, people c'mon now) is "does he recognize you?" since I've seen him in concert a few times.

Let's have the pictures speak for themselves, shall we?

A few weekends ago I met my Rick concert cohort in Primm, Nevada at Buffalo Bill's, where Rick was performing. YEEEHAAAW!

A table displayed a few Rick tchotchkes including a bottle opener. I'm sure they have boxes of these and are trying to get rid of stock, but given Rick's arrest a few month's ago for DUI, I'd let this trinket sit in the warehouse a bit longer.

During the concert Rick makes his way into the audience.

Like a lion to a gazelle, I move in.

"Rick! It's me! Remember me? Turn around Rick! RIIIIIIICK!"

And he heads off in the other direction.

So I guess I hope he doesn't recognize me and then gives me the cold shoulder. Ok, it wasn't cold. It was warm. You didn't think I would get that close and not touch, did you?

Heiress Leaves $400 Million to Charity, Nurse

I hope I'm not being mean by pointing out that heiress Huguette Clark, photographed in the 1930's, resembles Simon Le Bon. Hey, SLB is a looker, so it's a compliment.

Super wealthy Ms. Clark died recently, leaving a majority of her fortune to charity. Way to go Hug! or is it Ette? Not sure the nickname for Huguette. Knowing heiresses, it's probably Midge or Binky.

If you aren't familiar with her story, you can read it here. Basically she was a rich recluse, not meeting anyone face to face for years. Three huge homes sit empty in California, Connecticut and New York. When friends would try to visit her she would whisper from behind a door. Many wondered if it was even Huguette, or someone impersonating her.

Imagine all the homemade cookies her relatives must've tried to give her, to get in her good graces.

Keith's New Show Starts Tonight

Keith Olbermann has a new show on Current TV tonight. Also called Countdown, I am thinking he'll be able to uncork even more on what is happening in the world. He did seem vocal while on MSNBC, but I think the parent companies might have kept him from completely going off.

I didn't know what channel Current was, not helped by the fact that DIRECTV has hundreds of infomercials all over the place. So Current is way up in the 300's.

Dog Crawls Home After Tornado

Humans can learn so much from animals. This dog has two broken legs after being swept away by a tornado, and he still managed to crawl home. So whatever you're whining about today, think about that.

Add to that- the dog's family turned him over to the shelter. And the dog is still wagging his tail!

I am guessing the family couldn't afford the surgery needed on his legs, and turned him over. Not sure if the family wants him back. I won't comment.

I actually went to the LA Festival of Books to see Rick interviewed onstage for about 40 minutes yesterday. I didn't stay for the book signing. Hot day, long line.

Then today we hear that Rick was arrested last night for DUI.

Rick Springfield, of "Jesse's Girl" fame, was arrested on suspicion of D.U.I. in Malibu at 8 p.m. Sunday night, TMZ reports. The Australian '80s icon was pulled over by the LA County Sheriff's Department for a traffic violation, when cops smelled booze and asked Springfield to step out of the vehicle.

After performing several sobriety tests, Springfield was breathalyzed twice. His blood alcohol content was measured at .10 and .08. The legal limit in California is .08. Springfield was booked at a nearby jail and eventually released on $5,000 bail.

Springfield's autobiography, first available in 2010, will be released in paperback on July 5. In the book he details his struggles with depression after he shot to fame in the early 1980s with "Jesse's Girl." Springfield spent Sunday promoting the book at the Los Angeles Times book festival.

Tonight, (Monday, May 2), Springfield appears on CBS's "Hawaii Five-0" in a guest spot as a fashion photographer named Renny.

I haven't watched the wedding. DVR'ed it, but I don't know that I'll watch. I thought her dress was very mild for an Alexander McQueen dress. But I like that she didn't try and out-do Diana, and just went for a simple, if like Grace Kelly, dress.
