Oscar 2006- The Predictions

Best Picture: Brokeback

Potential Spoiler: Crash. Last year the Best Picture and Director didn't match up and this year could be the same.

Best Director: Ang Lee

Potential Spoiler: None, he's got this.

Best Actor: Philip Seymour Hoffman

Potential Spoiler: Heath Ledger. Only because the Best Picture winner usually has a strong Best Actor candidate/winner, and Capote is not going to win Best Picture (remember The Pianist). It's sexist, I know, but I didn't make it up.

Best Actress: Reese Witherspoon.

Potential Spoiler: Felicity Huffman. I picture the Academy to be a bunch of old men, and I would think they would vote for Reese because she's cute, and because they knew the Cash family or thought they did (Hollywood thinks they're friends with everyone). But, Carl Reiner was on Ellen and he was praising Felicity Huffman's work, and he said he is a member of the Academy. Who knows what those old geezers will do.

Best Supporting Actress: Rachel Weisz

Potential Spoiler: This won't be the supporting acting category with the spoiler...

Best Supporting Actor: Paul Giamatti

or

George Clooney

I thought Paul had it for sure, but I'm hearing buzz about Clooney. The Academy might've forgot about Paul not getting nominated for Sideways last year, and give it to Clooney's performance in a political movie.
