More on the Oscar Noms

Some fun thoughts and trivia

-Before Dreamgirls, no film had ever had the most nominations in a year and failed to get a Best Picture nomination. Dreamgirls has the most nominations with 8 (although 3 are in the same category- Best Song) and no Best Pic nomination.

-This is only the third time in Oscar history (the others being the first year, 1927/28, and then again in 1965) where none of the Best Picture nominees have a Best Actor nomination.

-Unless Babel wins, the Best Picture winner will have fewer than 7 nominations. The number of nominations between the 5 best pic noms (26) is the smallest combo since 1932. This means hurray to small movies!

-If Peter O'Toole doesnt win, he will hold the record for actor with the most noms (8) and no win. Currently he is tied with Richard Burton for 7 loses.

-The current acting quartet favorites- Mirren, Whitaker, Murphy, Hudson- might not make it all the way to Oscar night. O'Toole could be an upset if the Academy doesnt want him to be an 8 time loser. Murphy certainly has ticked off a few people with his ego. Sometimes there is an upset in the supporting actress category (Hi Kate Hudson, Lauren Bacall) but everyone seems to think Hudson will get it.

-If Marky Mark Wahlberg wins, it should be mandatory that they play "Good Vibrations" when he walks to the stage.
"Cmon Cmon... feel it feel it... feel the vibrations"

-On that same note, they could play something from "Raw" for Eddie Murphy. Maybe the part about the different types of poop. It would liven up the show, thats all Im saying.
Ok, I'd settle for Boogie in Your Butt.
Its a song. Seriously. Look it up.
