So the high-profile Salman Rushdie-Padma Lakshmi marriage is finally on the rocks after just three years! The couple could not even endure the 7-year itch, to say the least. I had an inkling that the marriage was doomed right from the beginning. Rushdie is an intellectual and Padma Lakshmi is a former model and a very ambitious TV presenter. She must have been unable to stay in his shadow for a long time. Their marriage has been under strain for quite some time due to their conflicting interests. This was bound to happen. Anyway, I wish Padma all the best in her career and Rushdie, well, looks like he'll soon become an eligible bachelor all over again!
