Is Ellen Bitter?

Barbara Walter's Oscar special will have Ellen D. talking about her stepfather abusing her. When asked about her mom, Ellen says her mom didnt believe her for a long time.

I have to say, I thought something was up with those two. Ellen's mom use to attend every taping of her show, and Ellen seemed lukewarm to her. Now I know why.
